Kodiak is a beautiful boy. Loves attention & is good with other dogs. Easy to work with on the grooming table. Light on the leash. Just a really nice boy. Kodiak has been an outside dog, so if you are wanting him inside, you most likely will have to have a belly band on him until he learns that he is not supposed to mark inside. He has NOT been exposed to children & but I am thinking if introduced properly, he would be able to make the transition to a family dog fairly well.
I am in the midst of doing a big restructuring & down sizing of my program as I have been keeping back a lot of our homegrown babies in the last few years. Now it is time to shorten up our line up so that it is more manageable. I have 3 litters of pups by Kodiak & am expecting another by him next month. I am really liking them. He was crossed on Heidi, Sedona & Ariat. I have kept back a daughter from each of his litters (Sapphire, Easy & Poke) & am more than satisfied with them~ all are really people pleasers & just love to be loved on. Kodiak is a red bi~ has NO copper trim~ & he has produced some Bi's in each of his litters. Although he does come from a sire who is a BET, Kodiak has as of yet to produce one. His litters have contained all sizes as I have gotten some small/med. Minis as well as some small standard sized pups. Kodiak's OFA's came back as Hips-Good, Patellas & Elbows- Normal. He is m/m~ non-merle for his M Locus, BUT he did come back as a carrier for the S Locus gene, so you will want to make sure that any females that you match him with are negative/clear for that. Kodiak is not a climber or a digger. Although Kodiak, himself, does not have Iris Coloboma, he has thrown it in his litters so you will want to only cross him on lines that do not have a history of throwing them. He has given me multiple minimal white pups with nice thick conformation & bone. Kodiak has a LOT to offer for someone's program. If you are having problems with missmarks due to the whitehead gene, Kodiak can really help you with that.
As with every Adult/older Puppy that we place, it is HIGHLY suggested to have them on a leash for the first 2-3 months as although YOU know that they are now part of Your family, the Aussie does NOT know that. They believe that they are only visiting you & may try to find their way back home to us. It can take anywhere from 2 months- a year before they will finally realize that you are now their home/family. So please know that it will take some time & effort on your part to integrate him into your lifestyle.
Kodiak is being offered as either an Intact Male for a breeding program at a fraction of the the cost of what I currently have invested in him OR he can be neutered to be placed in a Pet Home. IF you are wanting him as a Pet, he WILL be neutered before leaving here & MUST be paid for in FULL before he is neutered.
Kodiak came to us from Missouri as a pup. With the currency exchange & travelling fee, he landed here for a sum of approx. $6000- CDN plus add in growing him up, DNA Health testing, 1 yr OFA Prelims & 2 yr old OFA Finals... I would be looking at MINUMUM of $10,000- CDN invested in him to date. I am wanting to place him as I am needing the space & am needing to downsize me numbers.....
